bio

Molly Cox (yes, the very one who wrote this bio and actively chose to do so in third person) has been a server, a radio DJ, a bartender, a facilitator, a theatre director, a speaker, a political commentator, and a nonprofit executive. She even dabbled as a university lecturer and spent a summer at Gap, where she lost an inordinate amount of time mopping the floor of the public family bathroom. These positions are more alike than they are different. The places where these all happened were also more alike than different. And it with this in mind that Molly has refined the approaches she brings to her work.

Before returning to consulting in 2021, Molly spent a decade with SA2020, the nonprofit that drove progress toward a shared community vision in San Antonio, Texas. She led the organization in researching more than 60 community indicators, sharing more complete stories of San Antonio’s successes and challenges, and coordinating the alignment of multi-sector organizations toward shared goals prioritized by the community. This work was recognized both nationally and internationally

Over the course of her professional career, Molly has had the good fortune of being part of some seriously cool efforts, including coordinating the College Signing Day that launched First Lady Michelle Obama’s Reach Higher Initiative. (Yes, she did meet the First Lady. And yes, she did use the word vomit when she did so. Another story for another day.)

Her improvised TEDx talk led to her emceeing San Antonio's local TEDx for two years. Her PechaKucha reminded San Antonians about the importance of cheese and creating actual change rather than just talking about it. She once went "viral" because of chicken sandwiches. She has interviewed young people about their futures, as well as former San Antonio Mayor and HUD Secretary, Julián Castro, about his role in defining San Antonio's future. On occasion,  you can find her serving up her best political punditry on KSAT-News during local, state, and national elections.

She has a BA in theatre and a master’s in political science, (which makes complete sense). She is a Certified Nonprofit Professional and an alum of University of Texas at Austin's LBJ Women’s Campaign School
